Ah, the Japanese entertainment industry – if it even has a shred of a chance to make some money, they’ll do it. The Code Geass team released some tidbits of information about its plans for the series after the new manga, which takes place the feudal Japan of the Geass universe. While I ruled out a musical in a previous post about the new Geass projects, a NewType interview with producer Kawaguchi Yoshitaka stated that they were open to the idea of seeing Code Geass adapted for the stage, whether in musical form or a less flashy format.
The important part of the Geass news won’t be fully revealed until April, though – that’s the DVD and Blu-Ray release of the special Geass event held for Lelouch’s birthday. It’ll include footage of the new Code Geass anime, and an entire fanbase is holding its breath to see just what the DVD will reveal. There are still so many questions about the project – when it will be set, whether it’s a TV series or a movie or an OAV, and pretty much everything else.
My bet is on a new TV series set before the events of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, but my last guess was pretty far off the mark, so you should take that with a grain of salt.
The “flashy format” of a musical would be awesome.
