If you’ve hung around the otaku Internet at all, you know the song “Omoide ha Okkusenman” (“Memories are Priceless”), a fan-made remix of a classic Mega Man 2 theme. You have a slightly lower chance of knowing about BlazBlue fan favorite character song “Omae no Tettsui ni Kugi wo Ute” (“Bang a Nail With Your Hammer”), which comes up in-game whenever the burning ninja Shishigami Bang performs his Fuurin Kazan move. If you don’t know any of these songs, check out the videos in this post, I won’t leave you hanging.
What you may not know is that one of the fans who made Okkusenman famous wrote lyrics to Shishigami Bang’s theme song, and the creators of BlazBlue were so impressed by his effort that they put his lyrics in the latest iteration of the popular fighting game. In BlazBlue: Continuum Shift, the “vocal” version of Reppuu ~Gale~ created by Gomu appears, with Bang’s voice actor providing vocals for the soundtrack. Check it out after the jump.
It’s not necessarily a great song, but it’s a great story, and it is a lot of fun because it’s just so manly. So who cares if it isn’t an instant classic?
And just for completeness, here’s the song that inspired so much fan revelry when Kageyama Hironobu (“Cha-La Head-Cha-La”) was discovered on the soundtrack:
