The spring anime season starts in earnest next season, and to get you excited for their cutesy romantic comedy, the makers of B-gata H-kei have released a trailer that is basically Tamura Yukari sounding cute. It’s not very hard for the girl to sound cute – she’s made her living on it, after all – [...]

K-On!!, the innovatively titled second season of the popular K-On! anime, has now been saddled with an April 6th air date. In case you had inflated notions of just how popular it was, it’ll still air in the Otaku Hour, holding down the 1:30 AM time slot that so many anime have inhabited before it and [...]

Over on Kadokawa Anime’s YouTube channel, they’ve posted a trailer for the second half of Omamori Himari, or as they call it, the “Hardcore” portion of the series. According to the trailer, the already service-heavy boobs-’n’-brawls series is about to introduce the most popular character from the source material, yandere queen Quess. The short video [...]

I’ve become a huge fan of Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu, but I’ve gotten impatient and have started reading the novels to try and devour as much of it as I can in a short time period. I can’t recommend this course of action to anyone else because it’s expensive and requires a working knowledge [...]

You see that girl up there? That’s the goth-loli, absolute territory-wielding avatar of Lovecraft creation Nyarlathotep. Thanks to AnimeNation, I’ve been introduced to the latest ear worm video, a hideously reptitive video from Hanamaru Kindergarten that is ninety seconds of rough footage from the upcoming dance craze, “Panda Neko Taisou” (AKA “Panda Cat Exercise”). You’re welcome. And if this really does become a dance craze, please shoot me.

The weekend’s always a busy time for anime, since so many popular shows air on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Three of the big streaming highlights were the usual shounen fare, but there are some hidden gems with a lot of potential that you should keep an eye on, too.

Okay, okay, I know that it’s officially spelled SO-RA-NO-WO-TO. But after years of writing out iDOLM@STER, I’ve had enough of silly Japanese typography and just want to write something that people will understand, like Sora no Woto. Anyway, the last batch of Crunchyroll announcements for this anime season are Sora no Woto and Hanamaru Kindergarten, [...]

Yesterday, the FUNimation Roll-Out Riot gave us more anime news on both the action and cute girl fronts with a pair of wildly different shows: Jyushin Enbu Hero Tales and Master of Martial Hearts (AKA Zettai Shougeki Plantonic Heart). The two shows work on completely different levels, with one being a wuxia-inspired action tale with [...]

Today’s “that was inevitable” moment came when the official site for Kyoto Animation’s musical hit K-On! was updated with the above image, which confirmed a second season for the slice of life show about a high school all-girl band. Given the stellar sales of the DVDs and the show’s massive fan base (the show’s representation [...]
