Sweet mercy, I go and take a break to staff AX and the anime companies unleash half of their big announcements! I’m glad I’ll actually have time during Otakon to post the news as it happens, because falling behind on AX feels like a mountain already. So, here we go with the alphabetical company-by-company roundup: [...]

Well, they can’t all be hits. FUNimation’s weekend announcements at Anime Central only really generated excitement if you like boobs. If you do, hot dog - Sora no Otoshimono and both Rosario x Vampire seasons are coming your way in English next year, courtesy of FUNimation. The two fan service-crazy shows highlighted a relatively weak crop of [...]

FUNimation starts airing the second half of the noitaminA block tomorrow, and as you can see from the subtitled trailer above, Tatami Galaxy is a huge departure from your average kids’ action fantasy or cute-girl-moe anime. The visuals are freakish and fascinating, the story looks deliciously twisted, and all in all, it looks like it’ll be [...]

Yes, all of it. Today, FUNimation announced that the potential spring season savior Sarai-ya Goyou (AKA House of the Five Leaves) and lesser-known Tatami Galaxy will both be simulcast under its banner. The deal as announced covers future series that live in the noitaminA block as well, so this is a pretty big win for FUNimation. [...]

Over the weekend, FUNimation’s panels at Anime Boston and SakuraCon announced three titles to add to their ever-growing library: – Chobits, CLAMP’s tale about the complex relationship between a young man and his cutely anthropomorphic computer, has been rescued from its limbo state. It was previously licensed by the now-defunct Geneon Entertainment, and last saw [...]

That’s right, ladies, two, two, TWO Black Butler news pieces in one day! FUNimation’s latest FUNicon just ended with a trailer for the first Kuroshitsuji, meaning that FUNimation has acquired the rights to the fangirltastic butler series, which starred Sakamoto Maaya and Ono Daisuke as a young boy and his demonic butler. More info to come [...]

Many modern anime fans started at the same place: watching dubbed Dragon Ball Z after school and on the weekends. A generation later, Nicktoons’ announcement of its upcoming anime lineup holds a bit of a surprise: Dragon Ball Z Kai will join the children’s network’s lineup this May. While I personally thought that the remake/remaster [...]

This is the best news of the year so far: Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu, which I consider the most entertaining show in recent memory, is not only licensed by FUNimation, but it’s on the fast track to release. Starting tomorrow, FUNimation is going to start streaming subtitled episodes of BakaTest, which it is calling [...]

FUNimation is doing everything it can to get you excited about a release that’s not only a remake of a 15-year-old anime, but a cleaned-up release of a DVD they released just last year. If you’re still interested in Evangelion 1.11 in spite of the fact that there are only 3 minutes of truly new [...]

While it may be small news to some people that FUNimation picked up the license for a 12-year-old anime that has already seen at least three home video releases, there’s more here than meets the eye. I’m actually quite excited about FUNimation’s Trigun rescue announcement from this weekend’s KatsuCon. Remember, the Trigun movie is coming [...]
